The Art of Noticing
There is something so simple, yet radical about what we choose to place our attention on.
When we recognise ourselves as a part of nature (not separate from it) we begin to re-member our relationship to life itself. We no longer sense ourself as separate, but as a complex organism responding to light, space, ground...season.
Yet, we live in a world that has taught us something else - that we live ON the world, not as a part of it. That we can (must even) disassociate, keep going, not notice.
Not noticing is perhaps an important part of the story we've been taught. It fits nicely with the messages we have inherited, to 'keep calm and carry on'. To consider yourself unwell or perhaps unstable if what's happening around you is somehow affecting you.
When we practice paying attention we become active participants in the ongoing process of creation. We offer ourself grace to change, to grow, to shift perspective & perhaps most importantly, to become connected. As Rick Rubin shares, 'we begin to see ourselves as part of a greater whole that is constantly regenerating itself'.
In a world that calls for your consistency, the seasons offer an alternative pathway. As the sun lowers in the sky and the temperature cools, autumn welcomes change.
If you're in/around Bristol, this is your invitation to join a six-week autumn immersion for women.
An opportunity to notice & explore the shifting seasons through conversation, movement, rest & connection.
We begin in October.
